🍁 The Lamia Wrap is a fantastic project for diving into Tunisian crochet! 🍁
Cristin is teaching this class on Oct 20th, 2024-to Nov 10th, 2024 from 3:00-5:00pm (Sundays).
Getting Started with Tunisian Crochet
-
Materials Needed:
- Tunisian crochet hook: This hook is longer than a regular crochet hook, allowing you to hold multiple stitches on the hook at once.
- Yarn: Tonal or solid-colored yarns are recommended to let the textured stitches stand out. Choose a worsted weight yarn that feels cozy and warm.
-
Basic Tunisian Crochet Stitches:
- Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS): The foundation stitch is similar to a mix between knitting and crochet.
- Tunisian Knit Stitch (TKS): Creates a fabric that resembles a knitted stockinett stitch.
- Tunisian Purl Stitch (TPS): Adds texture similar to a purl stitch in knitting.
-
Growing the Shawl:
- Continue working rows in your chosen Tunisian stitch, increasing gradually to grow the shawl. The shawl will naturally expand from the initial 3 stitches into a wider wrap.
-
Finishing Touches:
- Once your shawl reaches the desired size, finish with a bind-off row, where you’ll close off the stitches.
- Block your shawl to even out the stitches and give it a polished look.
-
Styling the Shawl:
- The Lamia Wrap can be a versatile addition to a minimalist wardrobe, perfect for layering over a simple outfit for added warmth and texture.
